VIADRUS U 22 C is a universal cast iron sectional low pressure boiler designed for burning solid fuels: coke, coal, wood.

Two and three-section versions of the VIADRUS U 22 boiler are suitable for the reconstruction of heat sources in independent residential buildings, for small holiday homes. The large dimensions of the boiler meet the heating requirements of family houses, shops, schools, etc. The boiler is made as a warm-water boiler with natural and forced circulation of heating water and working pressure up to 4 bar. Before shipment, the boiler is tested for tightness with a test pressure of 8 bar.

With the help of solid fuel boilers VIADRUS U 22 C, you can create an autonomous heating system that does not depend on the supply of gas and electricity. Solid fuel boilers VIADRUS are also well suited for the restoration of old heating systems.

Solid fuel boilers Viadrus (Viadrus) is a heating equipment of a well-known Czech manufacturer. They can run on wood, coal or coke. In wood-burning models, fuel is loaded through an enlarged window, which allows the use of large pieces of wood.

Types of boilers Viadrus

Cast iron boilers of the Viadrus U22-C series, whose power varies from 12 to 58 kW, have a number of advantages. They are reliable, durable, easy to maintain and operate and, importantly, do not require connection to power supply networks. If necessary, boilers of this brand can be converted to work on liquid fuel or gas. Especially for this, the manufacturer produces the so-called transfer kits, consisting of additional parts of the heat exchanger and the burner control panel.

The single-circuit copper of the Viadrus U22-D series has the increased size of a fire chamber. The power of the models of this line depends on the number of sections. They can also be converted to run on other fuels. If you are interested in a double-circuit unit, which is also designed for heating water, equipment from other manufacturers should be considered.

Viadrus long-burning pyrolysis boilers are rightfully considered the most efficient and economical. They have high efficiency, and the duration of fuel burning in some models reaches 10 hours.

At the request of the customer, Viadrus solid fuel boilers are equipped with additional equipment. To increase productivity, you can install a water circulation pump, a boiler or a room thermostat.

Do not install the equipment yourself. We recommend entrusting the installation and connection of boilers to the specialists of our company, who will perform the work efficiently and quickly.

Viadrus is a Czech company that has been producing heating devices for over 120 years. The first products - cast iron radiators - are still being produced and do not lose popularity. Today the main activity is a variety of cast iron boilers. There are cast-iron solid fuel boilers, pyrolysis and direct combustion, there are models of gas boilers, there are those working on pellets. A feature of any boilers of this brand is a sectional increase in power. The interior of a boiler of any type consists of several cast-iron sections, which are interconnected by special nipples with bolts. Thus, the furnace space, the size of the ash pan, the heat exchanger are increased, and the total power of the unit is increased.

Solid fuel boilers

In this category, there are models with manual loading and automated. There is a pyrolysis boiler, universal models that can work on wood or coal, there are those that work only on coal or only on wood. To reduce heat loss, the body is insulated with a layer of mineral wool. A steel casing painted according to a special technology is installed over the thermal insulation.

Wood boiler Viadrus Lignator (Viadrus Lingator)

Solid fuel wood-burning boiler using afterburning technology. Like all Viadrus boilers, power increases with an increase in the number of sections. It can only be used in closed systems with a pump for forced circulation of the coolant. For safe operation, the equipment is equipped with protection against overheating of water in the system.

The Viadrus Lignator wood-burning boiler has a cast-iron heat exchanger, which ensures long-term operation. A grate water cooling system is also used, which prolongs the service life without repair.

To ensure normal operation and high performance, dry firewood must be used - no more than 20% moisture. The dimensions of the firewood depend on the selected power of the unit (the extension is sectional and the firebox increases with the number of sections), but the diameter of the thickest log should not exceed 10 cm.

Viadrus Hefaistos P1

The pyrolysis (gas generating) boiler with a steel firebox Hefaistos is designed for burning firewood. The minimum power of the boiler is 30 kW. It is possible to outweigh the doors for more convenient loading of fuel. About

Wood boiler Viadrus Hephaestus has two control options:

  • With the help of electronics. It is installed on units of 3-5 sections. In this case, the letter "E" is added to the marking. This control option makes it possible to set the priority for the DHW mode of operation.
  • Thermostats. This type of control is installed on boilers of 6-7 sections. Thermostats control smoke output, operating temperature, water temperature in the heating system. In the marking are marked with the letter "T". Boilers of this modification are non-volatile.

For normal operation, the Viadrus Hefaistos wood-burning boiler requires certain conditions to be met: the wood must have a moisture content of no more than 20%, the return temperature should not be lower than 60 ° C. If your system is long enough and the water has time to cool to lower temperatures, it is necessary to return before entering the boiler, mix in hot water from the supply, raising the temperature to the required value.

Universal boiler Viadrus Hercules 22 D/C

Viadrus Hercules can run on solid fuels - coal (C), wood and briquettes (D). It works on the principle of direct combustion, but the special shape of the furnace allows maximum use of the energy of the fuel: secondary air is supplied to the upper furnace to burn the gases formed during the combustion of the fuel. The boiler is considered multi-fuel:

  • A gas or oil burner can be installed.
  • You can install a pellet burner.

To install the burners, a special door with a hole for the burner assembly and the burner itself are required, additional parts for the heat exchanger are also needed. The advantage of this equipment can be considered low requirements for smoke draft.

The power of the boiler depends on the number of installed sections (from 2 to 10). The unit has a fairly high efficiency for this type of device: on coal 75-80%, on wood - 75%. Quite stringent requirements are imposed on firewood and coal: it must be dry, no more than 20% humidity. It is permissible to use firewood with 25% moisture, but then the efficiency drops (slightly, but noticeably). Briquettes can be used as fuel, which greatly increases efficiency (due to the greater calorific value of such fuel) and facilitates maintenance - briquettes give many times less ash, so equipment needs less cleaning. T.

Boilers of this line can be used both in closed-type systems with a circulation pump, and in gravity systems of an open or closed type. For more economical heating, liquid heat accumulators can be used. When installing the boiler in a closed system with a circulation pump, it is necessary to protect the equipment from overheating. Either a cooling coil with a thermostatic valve (equipment not included) or a safety shut-off device (optional) can be used for this.

To regulate the output of combustion products, there is a smoke damper, the position of which is regulated by a handle with a rod located near the loading hatches. The flow of primary air is regulated by means of an opening in the door of the ash chamber. Manual control with a screw, or a draft regulator. For afterburning, secondary air is supplied through an opening in the loading door. To change its size and thus regulate the intensity of combustion, you need a special tool that comes with the package. It is impossible to do this by hand because of the high temperature to which the door is heated.

Modifications of this boiler have some design features depending on the main type of fuel. Boiler Viadrus Herkules U 22 C - the main fuel is coal. Its analogue Herkules U 22 D (the main fuel is firewood) is distinguished by a wider door for more comfortable loading of fuel. In all other respects, the design and technical parameters are the same. Technical characteristics of both modifications are given in the table.

Combined boiler Viadrus Hercules 22 D/C (click to enlarge)

When installing, do not forget that if the mass of the boiler (with water, chimney and full load of fuel) exceeds 700 kg, it requires a separate non-cohesive foundation, which is 20-30 cm larger than the boiler in all directions. The depth of the foundation depends on the type of soil, but is usually done to the same depth as the foundation of the building.

Viadrus Hercules U 24

The Hercules U24 solid fuel boiler can burn coke, hard and brown coal, firewood and briquettes. But a boiler was developed for burning brown coal, on which it gives the best performance. Fuel moisture requirements: any coal - no more than 15%, wood - no more than 20%.

The increase in capacity is the traditional increase in the number of sections for Viadrus. Powerful modifications (from 8 sections and more) have additional traction control, which is located at the back.

Boilers can work in open and closed systems. When installed in closed systems, equipment to prevent overheating of the coolant is required (not included in the general package, but ordered separately).

Combined boiler Viadrus Hercules U 24 (click to enlarge the table)

Viadrus Hercules U 26

This unit can be fired with coal, coke and lump wood. The principle of direct combustion is used. One bookmark of coal and coke burns for 4 hours, firewood - 2 hours. The boiler can be used in systems with or without pumps. In closed systems, it is necessary to install means of protection against overheating: a cooling circuit and a two-way valve, which, when the water temperature in the heating circuit is above 95 ° C, connects an additional cooling loop (this equipment is not included in the basic package).

If the system has a volume of more than 300 liters, then for more economical heating it is better to install a liquid heat accumulator.

Boilers with automatic fuel loading

In order to add fuel less often, a bunker is installed next to the boiler, from which fuel is automatically fed into the furnace using an auger. The hopper can be placed on the left or right, there are two sizes. When buying a boiler with automatic fuel supply, it is worth considering that quite stringent requirements are imposed on the fuel both in terms of humidity, and in terms of size, and ash content. They are exactly indicated in the passport, but they must definitely have certain dimensions and humidity no more than 15% for coal and 20% for firewood.

solid fuel boiler

The boiler with automated fuel supply Hercules DUO works with hard or brown coal and pellets. Combustion takes place with the help of a retort burner, a controlled fan is installed at the back, supplying combustion air.

Pellet boilers Hercules ECO and Woodpell

For normal operation of the unit, pellets with a diameter of 6-10 mm, a moisture content of up to 12% and an ash content of up to 1.5% are required. The minimum power of ECO is 24kW, Woodpell is 16kW.

Increasing productivity occurs by increasing the sections (up to 10pcs). Fuel bunker - any type and size (not necessarily factory, home-made is perfect). Controls the operation of automation, but there is the possibility of transferring to manual mode.

In ECO boilers, the heat exchanger is separated from the ash pan by ceramic plates that regulate combustion and also act as a catalyst, increasing the efficiency of the boiler (83-84%). Turbulators are inserted into the flue pipes, which reduce the temperature of the smoke at the boiler outlet, thereby contributing to a more complete transfer of heat to the heating circuit. The auger fuel feeder is connected to the hatches located on the rear panel. The heat exchanger is cast iron. Its service life is 5 years.

The Woodpell boiler uses a heat exchanger based on the proven design used in the Hercules U22. Operation control is automatic, the temperature is controlled by a thermostat located in the room. The package includes protection against overheating of the coolant, which, when the coolant reaches 95 ° C, turns off the burner. It is possible to program the operation of the boiler by day with the temperature setting for each period of time (from 5 ° C to 30 ° C in increments of 0.5 ° C). Built-in protection of the system from freezing (when the temperature in the system drops below 5 ° C, its heating automatically turns on).

The process of assembly and installation of the Viadrus U22 boiler was filmed by one of the representatives of the campaign's service department.

Boilers manufactured under the Viadrus brand at the Czech and Slovenian plants, in the Hercules modification with a capacity of 11 to 58 kW, are designed for home heating. You can burn coke, coal and firewood in these boilers.

The boilers are single-circuit, that is, for the production of hot water, you will need an indirect heating boiler for this boiler. You can take very high-quality and quite decent-priced products, also produced in the Czech Republic.

Solid fuel boiler Viadrus Hercules U22 characteristics

If we talk about Viadrus Hercules boilers, then they can also burn wood chips, cardboard, tare boards, shavings and briquettes. Burning sawdust in these boilers will not work, the rapidly forming crust does not allow the sawdust to burn, because there is no forced air for burning small wood fuel.

The Viadrus Hercules D modification differs from the Viadrus Hercules C in that the D has a large firebox and a large loading door, which allows you to lay rather large logs. Accordingly, modification D is designed for wood burning, and modification C is for coke and coal.

Another interesting point is related to the flue gas removal design. This boiler is very undemanding to draft, some owners manage to operate their heat generator with a chimney 4 meters high, although the minimum boiler height recommended by the manufacturer is from 6 meters.

And one more thing, the Viadrus Hercules U22 boiler can be used in a heating system with natural circulation of the coolant.

It is believed that this boiler is easily converted to gas or diesel fuel, one has only to install the appropriate burner. However, it is worth considering how much you need such a replacement. And is it not worth hanging up, and leaving Viadrus as a backup boiler in the heating system in case the gas is turned off in the mains.

Wood and coal boiler Viadrus Hercules U22 reviews

About the wood-fired boiler Viadrus Hercules U22, a resident of the Bryansk region left a review:

Andrey Uvalensky, Bryansk: I bought the D-4 boiler at the very beginning of March, installed it myself, my father-in-law and son helped. Without problems, they crashed into the heating system instead of the old Russian boiler. I love the boiler, it works great.
Of course, they lied a little with efficiency, and with consumption. We have to heat more firewood than it is written in the passport. And so - everything is fine.

There are also more reviews about the Viadrus Hercules solid fuel boiler:

Anna Makarenko, Moscow: Boiler Viadrus Hercules U22 C-2 was bought for heating a dacha. Eats a ridiculous amount of coal. You can even say that coal does not eat, but sniffs. One bucket is enough to heat the cottage for the whole day.
The pot is small and light. And the price was ridiculous, bought for very little money.

Boiler for wood and coal Viadrus Hercules U22 pros and cons

The Viadrus Hercules boiler has three main advantages:

  • Firstly, it is a good heat exchanger made of high-quality cast iron, which allows us to talk about the overall durability of the boiler.
  • Secondly, this is a very reasonable price for boilers from a European manufacturer. For example, a Viadrus Hercules U22 D-4 boiler (four sections, power 23 kW, wood fuel) costs from 36,000 to 42,000 rubles from different dealers. If you guess the time and get under dealer promotions, you can buy a boiler even cheaper.
  • Thirdly, the Viadrus Hercules U22 boiler has a fairly precise adjustment of the combustion process, both on wood and on coal. That is, you can be sure that your system will not boil, that the boiler automation will be able to extinguish the flame in the furnace in time.

There are not many disadvantages of the Viadrus Hercules U22 boiler.

  • Firstly, the rather strange recommended chimney diameters for models are 156, 175 mm. Non-standard pipes or adapters increase the cost of installing the boiler and chimney.
  • Secondly, models up to 5 sections inclusive have a very small firebox depth. That is, only the D-6 (power 33/35 kW) can have a log length of 45 cm. This is the standard length that is sawn in Russia and sold at any corner from trucks.

And for models with 4 and 5 sections, the log length is ridiculous 27 and 35 cm. That is, a boiler that heats a house of 200-300 sq.m. you need to drown with such funny logs, sawing standard firewood.

    Viadrus solid fuel boilers

    The difference between Viadrus boilers

Modern Viadrus solid fuel boilers are popular heating devices. Their installation does not require consent from certain services. As in the case of other solid fuel units, in order to install a boiler of this brand, it will be necessary to equip a boiler room and a fuel storage room.

The main advantages of Czech boilers are as follows:

    1. High efficiency.
    2. Very simple service.
    3. Long service life.

To ensure stable operation of the device for many years, it is necessary to clean the combustion chamber from ash and soot twice a week and carry out a complete maintenance at the beginning and end of the heating season.

    Principle of operation

Solid fuel boiler Viadrus takes firewood, coke or coal as fuel. In the model range there are pellet boilers, which are distinguished by automatic fuel supply. This type of heating units is the most convenient, therefore it does not require much attention from the owner.

Some type of fuel is loaded into the furnace, then the lid is hermetically closed. This minimizes heat loss and improves equipment efficiency.

The principle of operation of the boiler Viadrus

    1. Walnut 1. Fuel (coke or anthracite) with a fraction size of up to 40 mm.
    2. Walnut 2. The size of non-caking coal fractions is up to 50 mm.

Take note that if the draft in the chimney is good (that is, at least 20 Pa), then you can use lump coal with a grain size of up to 80 mm.

Almost all models also take firewood as fuel. In this case, it is important to use only dry logs, in which the moisture content is maximum 20%. If this indicator is higher, then it is quite possible that the efficiency of the boiler will decrease. It is possible to use firewood with a diameter of up to 100 mm, the length is chosen based on the size of the combustion chamber.

According to the instructions, the use of the following type of fuel is not prohibited:

    • chips;
    • sawdust;

If you decide to pour wood chips or sawdust to melt the device, then it is advised to put firewood on the bottom of the chamber. Thus, you will prevent small particles from falling into the ash chamber.

During operation, the fuel is poured into a special bunker, from where it is fed autonomously into the combustion chamber.

    Operating conditions

Owners of Viadrus solid fuel boilers note the ease of operation of the device. But still, before you start the equipment, you need to read the instructions.

    Before starting the Czech boiler:

    1. They take readings from the thermomanometer and make sure that there is enough liquid in the system.
    2. Open the valves that are installed on the system pipes.
    3. Check the cleanliness of the smoke channels, grate and ash chamber. If there is soot, you need to remove everything.
    4. Arrange firewood on the grate.
    5. Open the shutter and close the loading doors.
    6. Fuel is ignited through the furnace door.
    7. Close the firebox door and open the muffler to allow air to enter.
    8. The main fuel is poured onto the burning firewood, it is distributed evenly.
    9. When the flame turns dark red, use the key to open the shutters on the loading doors.
    10. When the fire turns yellow, the shutters on the doors close.
    11. After the coolant reaches the required temperature, the volume of incoming air is reduced. With the help of a silencer, the air flow is regulated for the operation of the boiler in the specified mode.
    12. If necessary, the fuel is still reported. The time between approaches to the heating unit for laying fuel depends on the type of fuel and the intensity of combustion.

    Different operating modes

In order for the solid fuel boiler to switch to night mode, I perform the following steps:

    1. Clean up the grate.
    2. Produce bookmark fuel and wait for it to warm up.
    3. Turn the smoke damper and reduce the boiler output.

In the morning, the damper and the holes on the doors are opened, after which the grate is shoved through the open ash doors. After completion of work, the doors are closed.

The ash chamber needs to be cleaned two to three times a week, and heat-protective gloves are required for work.

Solid fuel boiler Viadrus U22 С/D

    Boiler Viadrus U22 c/d

Viadrus U22 C/D is a heating boiler capable of operating on various types of solid fuels, including coal, logs, pellets. The only difference between modifications C and D is that the model with index D is characterized by a wider opening of the loading chamber door, and this makes it possible to load thicker firewood into the boiler during kindling.

The basis of the design is a sectional heat exchanger made of cast iron. In addition to the front and rear sections, solid fuel boilers of different sizes have several internal sections. Accordingly, the more sections, the more powerful the model. The range includes nine C-series and seven D-series.

The sections of the heat exchanger connected to each other are a single volume filled with liquid. The internal space is reserved for kindling and an ash chamber. The rear section has a chimney outlet, a supply circuit in the upper part, and a return circuit in the lower part. The forward section has doors of a loading chamber and an ashpit. The size of the heating unit affects the structure of the internal sections.

For more convenient regulation of the opening of the chimney damper, the handle is installed on the front panel. There are also two channels of air supply to the boiler. The first is the damper on the door of the ash chamber. The strength of its opening, as well as the volume of air that is supplied to the combustion chamber from under the grate, is adjusted either by an automatic draft regulator or manually using a screw. On the door of the loading chamber there is also an opening for air supply directly to the combustion chamber of the heating unit. The strength of its opening is regulated by the owner.

In order to be able to monitor the temperature and pressure of the liquid in the system, there is a thermomanometer on the top cover of the Czech solid fuel boiler. Its sensor is immersed in the rear section, and the device itself is displayed in the control box.

The body of the solid fuel boiler Viadrus has a special type of thermal insulation, which reduces heat losses and thus increases the performance of heating equipment. The housing over the insulation is covered with wear-resistant and heat-resistant paint.
