The meaning of the Soulu rune

Leading. The actions of the followers, as well as the external space, must be organized according to the doer.
The actions of the slave leaders concerning the agent quickly cease to correspond to him. The great inconsistency of the actions of the followers is a stimulus for action by Sauvelo.

The result of this action is the "correct" actions of the followers.

The use of Rune Soulu in magic

Magic meaning: integrity. It helps to "find oneself", gain confidence in an unclear or uncertain situation, indicates a way out, sums up. Gives a "hint" on the path of life (the same "support"). Enhances vital energy. In healing activities, it is necessary to take into account that it is undesirable to treat inflammatory and colds with the "Sun" (here, rather, cooling is needed, the Isa rune).

- physical and spiritual health, success in battle.

The magical use of this rune is directly related to its definitions as the runes of victory, the runes of power and the runes of integrity. It is believed that the Soulu rune is capable of propelling a person or an existing situation to gain integrity. In addition, the Soulu rune can help you clarify an unclear situation and push you to the right decision.

In a magical sense, the meaning of this rune is power, understood as the inseparable unity of Power, "that which leads", and Power, "that which acts."

The interpretation of the Soulu rune in fortune-telling

Mantic meaning: health, clarity of thought, self-confidence. Medicine. Light, optimism, energy (including spiritual), creative enthusiasm. Glory, fame, victory. Negative aspects: excessively inflated self-esteem, desire for power, for a pedestal, ambition, selfishness.

Situation

Possession of the powerful energy of the Higher Spirit, the manifestation of the Higher Will in your life - through your personal actions, thoughts, words. Time for accomplishments, recovery, raising both the external processes of life and the internal state to the level of embodiment of the Higher Will in your life, the implementation of the Personal Myth, i.e. long-conceived desires, bearing the awareness of oneself as a full-fledged and happy person.

Opportunities provided

Realize your innermost dreams, what is called the "path with the heart." Everything is subject to you, the road is open everywhere. For spiritual people, it is the time to acquire the highest spiritual experience. For businessmen - the formation of prestige and the implementation of leadership. The time when you are not only listened to, but also walked on your paths.

Rune's caveat:

You have been given great strength - the strength that makes a person confident in his choice, look, words. The power of persuasion of the rest is not even a word, but a state, charisma. And there is a danger of being very carried away by oneself, by one's problems, by the seeming truth of all words and deeds. The Soulu period is not eternal - the sacred intoxication with the power of inspiration will subside and the moment will come when the world will experience what you have done for the truth and purity.

Embodying desires, using this power and opportunities, always remember about others, about their well-being - and your responsibility for them.

Problems caused by the Rune

When Soulu falls out, the impossibility of postponing the achievement is realized, the unjustification of such a postponement, the illegality of refusing to act. That's why everything is at stake. In this, a person finds himself, feels the fullness of self-being. He is whole, one. It is difficult to imagine the rider galloping forward, leaving the horse's hooves, head and saddle behind. Unfortunately, we manage to act according to a similar scenario. A good part of ourselves remains in the past (behind) and decides whether we did the right thing or not. The other part ran forward with fear and contemplates the consequences. Another one fights without strength and weapons. And the smartest part stands aside and asks itself: "And what can they do there without me?" This is very clearly seen when a person explains his problem.

Soulu is a rune of volitional action. It is very important to reflect and realize that will and action are one and the same. Will is not desire, but the action itself at the moment it is committed. We call strong-willed that person whose word does not differ from deed. Soulu is the rune of the manifestation of will in a specific form of action. She calls: “Show your will! Be yourself!" Will is rooted in the Spirit. It is also a synonym for Spirit: Spirit - Will - Action. Action doesn't just mean wiggling your arms and legs. Action is the direct expression of a spiritual impulse. It is fueled by a will rooted in the Spirit. Soulu has the highest spiritual significance associated with the Sun, the core of the integral organism of the universe. The transition from conversations, doubts, deviations to the fullness of being, to action is experienced as a holiday of self-resurrection, as a triumph of transformation. The man exclaims: “Hurray! Happened! I can!"

It is very important to treat the Soul rune with love and respect. It helps people to be human, to feel themselves not as a thinking box in a brainless body, not as a complex of fears, shame and doubts, but as an active, moving, realizing being, not separated from their life path. It lifts us up and gives us the opportunity to move, walk, reach and cry out from the joyful feeling of victory: “I could! It worked out for me! I did it myself! (Well, there, Soulu also helped.) "

The main rune of the first atta. As the first alphabetic character, this rune has the meaning "cattle", conveys the sound "f". The first letters of the Hebrew and Greek alphabets have the same meaning, but they convey different sounds. Cattle literally refers to movable property. In a society of a nomadic or agricultural type, the number of one's own livestock was the main sign of the well-being of an individual, family or clan. In the ancient European tradition, livestock was a property that could be the subject of a commercial transaction - in contrast to a manor, which was inherited property and was not subject to sale or exchange. Symbolically, the cattle rune denotes property that can be sold or exchanged - property that can be traded. Subsequently, in modern English, the name of this rune appeared in the word "fee" - fee.

Traditional society relied heavily on milk, meat, leather, and cow horns. This essence of bovine nature gives it a fundamental role in the Indo-European tradition. The Norse creation myth tells of a primitive cow called Audhumla, who also participated in the universal creation: she licked a cube of crystalline salt containing the progenitor of humanity, the original creature of the Storm.

According to the rune theory, "Feoh" represents that initial transition to existence to which we all owe our origins. In the classic Mediterranean tradition, the young bull also serves as a starting point. For the ancient Egyptians, bull horns symbolized the beginning of everything. Virgil's reasoning about the birth of man begins with the words: "A white bull with gilded horns opens the year," and Mithra's admirers argued that the bull was the beginning of the created organic world.

Materially, "Feoh" represents the accumulation of power. It denotes the ability to manage. This power is twofold: physical (i.e., managing the herd) and economic (as a result of using the herd). This symbol of governance also embodies the responsibility that property carries with it. Owning and managing livestock, like any other manifestation of wealth, requires the owner to exhibit a sense of responsibility. Proper leadership is required to avoid losses. If the person managing the flock is prone to wastefulness or too stingy, then he will soon experience misery and poverty. In the modern context, the rune "Feoh" means money, as well as the ability and opportunity to achieve worldly success and prosperity and the ability to preserve it. Old interpretations of the rune warn us against stinginess and its social consequences. The Norse rune poem emphatically warns us that all the troubles of rich people arise from greed and envy. These forces can cause a split in a family, clan or nation, leading to general ruin: "Wealth causes strife between relatives, and meanwhile the wolves hide in forest ambushes." Similarly, under the rubric of the first rune, the Old English runic poem tells us that "Wealth is everyone's joy, but everyone should be able to easily refuse it if he wants to earn mercy in the eyes of the Lord."

Phonetically, the sound "u". It originally symbolized a huge European wild bull called the tour ("Bos primigenus"). Both its English name and Latin mean "primitive bull". Although in ancient times it was widespread in northern and central Europe, by the medieval period it had become a threatened species and was exterminated. The last round was killed in Poland in 1627. The surviving skeleton clearly shows that the tour was a formidable beast. "Dare the tour with the horns rising high, the furious horned warrior who tramples the heather on the ground with his hooves, a fearsome creature!" - tells us the Old English runic poem. "Ur" symbolizes the impersonal, untouched, unbridled strength of wild cattle. This is in stark contrast to the person-centered, socially controlled power of property expressed by "Feoh," the first rune. Ur stands for the unlimited energy of the universe, the awe-inspiring embodiment of unlimited creativity. The imperceptibility of the "Ur" force convinces that it ("Ur") can never be reduced to an individual level, under someone's sole control. In the sphere of human aspirations, "Ur" conveys the power of the collective will, "our" power. The magical influence of "Ur" brings good luck, collective strength and personal success measured by general well-being.

Phonetically conveys "th", as in the word "thorn". The rune denotes the resilience and protective properties of a thorny tree. A thorn is a defensive device that can act passively or as a deterrent in an attack. In addition, it has the meaning of "giant", "demon" or "troll"; and each of these creatures is also credited with the ability to hurt or defend. The Old English runic poem tells us that "The thorn is very sharp, if you grab it, it will hurt, the thorns are terrible for anyone who falls on them." Thorn hedges are a practical way to keep outsiders out of your field; and sacred tracts of land in Northern Europe were usually surrounded by hawthorn or thorn hedges. Mythologically "Thorn" refers to the protective properties of Mjellnir, the "Hammer of Thor". Mjellnir means "destroyer," and today, protective amulets in the shape of this hammer are popular among members of the Asatru organization. The shape of the Thorn rune bears a resemblance to the stylized shape of Thor's hammer. Here, "Thorn" is a force that opposes anything that threatens the natural order of things. In conclusion, "Thorn" also symbolizes the creative energy of the masculine principle, the productive principle not subject to the will of others.

"Thorn" is the only rune that has survived in everyday use. It can be seen throughout England in its later form as the letter "y" in "old fashioned" names such as "Ye Olde Tea Shoppe" (Old Tea Shop). Until the eighteenth century, it was used in England along with the letters of the Latin alphabet to denote the first "th" in words like "the", "that" and "this".

As, Asc, Asa, Ansur

This is the "divine rune" denoting divine power in action. Phonetically, this "a" is the "original sound" of Sanskrit, which caused the manifestation of the current cycle of the universe (a theory quite equivalent to the Greek concept of the Logos). The As rune is represented by ash, one of the most sacred trees in the northern tradition. In Norse mythology, the world tree Yggdrasil, the cosmic axis, is ash. “As” represents the divine authority that oversees the observance of order in space: “The ash tree, loved by people, rises high. He firmly holds his place in a stable position, although many enemies come to overcome him "- says the Old English runic poem.

An Old English rune poem tells us that “For a fellow inside the chambers, horseback riding is soft; it is more difficult when he rides long miles on horseback. " The rune represents all types of formed directed activity. The poem has in mind two types of "riding": sexual intercourse and horseback riding. Its name also means "wheel" (German "Rad") and the road on which one travels on horseback. In an esoteric sense, the rune symbolizes the "cart" that we must use to achieve anything. "Rad" stands for the need to channel our energies appropriately if we are to achieve the desired results. Rad emphasizes the need to be in the right place at the right time to take the right action. Thus, "Rad" denotes the ritual nature of the activity. In the ritual, the transformation of energies takes place, the transfer of spirit, matter or information from one place to another. But the main emphasis is on self-transformation. As a result, "Rad" symbolizes our conscious efforts to control circumstances that affect our well-being. Our positive conscious interaction with our position on the wheel of fortune, a situation with which we must interact harmoniously, is what is necessary if we are to live successfully. The phonetic meaning is "R".

Ken, Cen, Kennaz

It reads like "k". In its early form, it was an angular version of the Latin letter "C", but in its later form, it symbolically depicts "kienspan", a pine torch that was lit to light houses in earlier times. An Old English runic poem says that “The torch is a living fire, bright and radiant. More often it burns where noble people rest in their homes. " A later depiction of the rune conveys the form of a kienspanhalter, a stand into which a burning pine torch was stuck. Such devices were used in rural areas of southern Germany until the nineteenth century. As a result, the "Ken" rune symbolizes illumination. In shape, it resembles a straight trunk with a shoot, which also symbolizes an active principle. It is directly opposite to the eleventh rune, "Is", which consists of a single trait and serves as the embodiment of the static principle. Symbolically, "Ken" is the rune of the sacrament of transformation, personifying the mystical creation achieved by the union and transmutation of two separate entities, which produce a third that did not previously exist. In a splinter, the resinous pine tree is destroyed, but transformed into light and warmth. Thus, "Ken" brings light into darkness. At all levels, it symbolizes those things that allow us to see. The runic name "Ken" is related to "sen", a Celtic word meaning "mighty." In Scottish and some English dialects, ken means knowledge. Esoterically, it means rebirth through death.

Has the phonetic meaning of a solid "g". Similar to the Latin letter "x", "Gyfu" is a "sacred sign" used to denote things dedicated to the gods. In relation to this rune, the Old English runic poem says that "Giving to people means decorating your dignity, giving to strangers is significant and honorable." "Gyfu" refers to a gift and an act of giving / receiving. Symbolically, she describes a gift as an ability or talent in service to others. The ability itself - talent - is seen as a gift from the gods to an individual. When something is given, a relationship is established between the giver and the receiver. "Gyfu" refers to the effects of giving that unite the giver and the recipient of the gift. "Gyfu" expresses the ability to bind people who seem to be strangers to each other, and even create a connection between a person and a deity. Nowadays "Gyfu" is used as a symbolic depiction of a kiss in love letters. Esoterically, "Gyfu" represents the property personified in the Norse goddess Gefn or Gefjon, a generous donor similar to the goddess of Abundance who was once worshiped in Central Europe.

Wyn, Wunnaz, Wunjo

A rune with a phonetic meaning "w". In the shape of a weather vane, "Wyn" represents joy. It denotes the ability to stay in tune with the flow of events, just as a weather vane moves in accordance with the gusts of a changeable wind and the breeze. The Old English runic poem expresses it this way: “Joy for one who knows little with sadness. Without grief, they will have bright fruits, happiness and prosperity in the house. " "Wyn", thus, denotes the golden mean, the point of balance to which we must strive in order to lead a reasonable and happy existence, "Wyn" is liberation from the double tyranny of lack or excess. But here "Wyn" symbolizes the fulfillment of our desires and aspirations in a reasonable way, a change in life for the better. Since this can most easily be achieved in harmony with others, "Wyn" is a rune of camaraderie, shared goals, and shared well-being.

The ninth in a row, the first in the second atta, the rune with the phonetic meaning "h". The name literally means "hail" (hail), that frozen water that falls from the sky in granular form. Hail is water turned into ice for a short time, during which time it can fall from the sky, destroying crops or property. Having inflicted such damage, it melts, again turning into a harmless, even fertile liquid. Symbolically, "Hagal" is the icy primary grain of the transformation structure, modeled according to the original sacred geometry, the forms of which are embedded in the depths of the universe. "Hagal" refers to the processes required to complete something, and therefore it is sometimes believed that this rune indicates or leads to a delay. Besides, "Hagal" is of course the element of ice - the fifth element of the northern tradition.

"Hagal" represents the connection between the upper world and the Middle Earth on which we live. It is the rune of the number nine, the most sacred number in the northern tradition, and as such it is the Mother of the runes. "Hagal" is associated with the divine patrons of the paths that connect the world of human consciousness with other planets. These deities are Heimdall - the guardian god who connects our Middle Earth with the upper world through the Rainbow Bridge, Bifrest; and Mordgud is the goddess who guards the bridge leading to the underworld. Ice crystals in the sky sometimes cause the halos that we can see around the moon on frosty nights. Likewise, the terrible bridge to the underworld is made of ice. The rune is also associated with Urd, the older norn, "who knows what happened." This is the rune of Samhain, a celebration that is known today as All Saints' Eve.

The ninth rune represents those models of existence that, although they arose in the past, are still active and affect the present state of affairs. It signifies a strong, albeit subtle influence, thus symbolizing the power of evolution in the structure of modern existence. Hagal refers to the root of things, both physically, materially and temporarily.

Rune diviners often attribute a bad meaning to "Hagal", seeing in it a harbinger of life's catastrophe when it falls into the rune alignment. Negative aspects of a rune can show up in the form of accidents or, more commonly, in the form of usually unforeseen "bad luck." But, whatever they are, the events indicated by this rune can happen suddenly and unexpectedly. Moreover, they cannot be avoided as they are outside the control and intervention of the person. However, they are not accidental, since they occur according to already established rules, similar to the court. Due to this, the result of events will be impartial and inevitable, not subject to human emotions and preferences. With this side, "Hagal" denotes the action of a mechanical process rather than the result of human creativity.

"Hagal" is the rune of the unconscious mind of the individual and the form-making process of thought. In a more specific sense, it is a destructive agent working in the subconscious to bring about a much needed change. Hagal tells us that these problems must be addressed now if we are to progress. But being aware of these problems gives us the strength to solve them. Hagal shows us that the best way of being is to live in harmony with nature - with the natural change of seasons, with our own true nature. Whatever happens to us, the way we act is in our own free will.

Need

A rune representing the sound "n". This rune means "need." The need in all its forms. It can refer to an ordinary feeling of need, the kind of need that is caused by a lack or lack of something necessary. An Old English rune poem describes a need of this kind as follows: "A need is a tight bandage that tightens the chest, but can often be turned into something that will bring help if you pay attention to it in time." "Nyd" expresses the idea that the opportunity to get rid of the need exists and it can be found in the need itself.

Nyd calls for caution in action. The old adage "know thyself" is especially applicable to this rune.

According to Norse mythology, Nott is the goddess of the night. She had three husbands. From the first, Naglfar, she gave birth to a son, Aud (Aud "a); from the second, Annar, a daughter of Erd, the goddess of the Earth, and from the third, Dellinger, a son of Dag (day). Thus, the rune" Nyd "(" Nott ") Is the mother of the 24th rune," Dag. "

The eleventh rune of the alphabet, phonetically - "i". It means ice, embodying the principle of static existence.

Ice is the result of a change in state from liquid to solid after energy loss. The flowing water becomes solid ice. Embodying the principle of inertia and entropy, "Is" is the exact opposite of the "Ken" rune. But, according to the esoteric tradition of the North, in conflict with fire, ice forms a new substance. The ice itself contains the principle of melting and re-transformation into water. He can also move in the form of a glacier, developing a terribly slow, but nevertheless, irresistible force. As an iceberg, "Is" is deceiving, as only one-ninth of its true mass is visible above the surface. The rune "Is", thus, denotes a break in progress or the end of the relationship under the influence of powerful, inevitable forces. It is sometimes associated with death. An Old English rune poem tells us this: “The ice is very cold and slippery. It sparkles like glass, like a precious stone. A field covered with frost is beautiful to the eye. "

Jera, Ger, Jara, Jer

Phonetically it is "j" or soft "g". This rune has the esoteric meaning of "year" or "season". It refers to cycles of time, processes in time and their culminating points. More specifically, "Jara" symbolizes fruitful results when actions are taken in the right order and at the right time. This is the appropriate completion of any process. More specifically, "Jara" refers to a bountiful harvest that can be obtained through careful farming. It shows that when a person's actions are performed in accordance with the correct principles, namely, when they are performed in accordance with the natural order of things, the consequences will be beneficial. The result will be "soul-pleasing abundance for rich and poor alike." "Jera" is the rune of completion, marking the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one. This is characteristic of the 12th letter of the runic row, symbolizing the twelve months of a full year. In both its old and new form, this rune reflects the mystical union between earth and space or the cycles of the seasons.

The rune symbolizes yew, sounds like "eo" or "z". In the Old English runic poem, it is described as follows: "In appearance, yew is a strong tree, steadfastly and stubbornly holding onto the Earth, protector from fire, joy for the home." Since ancient times, yew has been revered throughout Europe. It is the longest lived European tree and as such it symbolizes longevity. Some old yew trees have a phenomenal property: they are able to resurrect. Old trees that are almost dead and partially rotten can be regenerated with the help of daughter shoots that grow inside the trunk. In the magical aspect, the yew tree is revered as a "bleeding" tree, as you can find trees from the wound of which red, like blood, resin continuously oozes. These features, noted in ancient times, mark the yew as a tree of death and rebirth - hence its symbolic use in cemeteries. By tradition, yew has a dual purpose - to protect the deceased and open access to another world. This transition to another state was previously accomplished with the help of traditional shamanic rituals. Part of this ritual was the burning of aromatic substances obtained from the resin, leaves or bark of the yew tree, which are extremely poisonous and can bring death. All this makes "Eoh" the rune of death. But its strength as a rune is generally considered positive, affirming continuity and longevity. Yew wood has traditionally been most commonly used to make a large bow. This adds another lethal aspect to the Eoh rune, as the bow is a weapon of murder in hunting or war. Before the invention of firearms, anyone who carried a longbow threatened a potential adversary, making the yew a magically protective tree. Many ancient runeboards are also made of yew. Such boards have survived in Frisia from the 6th-7th centuries. The most famous of them are the board from Britsum (6th century) and the yew stick from Westerremden, dating from about 800s.

Peorth, Peord, Perthro

The meaning of this rune is perhaps more extensive than all others. Many rune researchers see it as a "glass" or "rocking chair" in which the dice are shaken before throwing them on the board. Sometimes it is seen as a stylized drawing of a vessel for drawing lots. Close to this view is the interpretation of "Peorth" as pawns or pieces, whose movements on the playing board, like dice, can be seen as a metaphor illustrating the quirkiness of human existence. When viewed as a token, Peorth reflects the dynamic relationship between the action of conscious free will and the obstacles of existing circumstances. In any game on the board, the possible movements of the pieces are determined by the rules of the game. Beyond these inevitable limitations, however, the actual movements in any given game are not definite once and for all. They are the result of the conscious skill of the players and their interactions during the game.

These more generally accepted interpretations of "Peorth" do not quite coincide with that given by the Old English rune poem. This text describes "Peorth" as follows: "Cheerful music brings laughter and play with it to where the brave fellows sit together in the hall and the soldiers drinking beer with them." Here "Peorth" is considered a symbol of cheerful music - or even dance, which is somewhat similar to the movement of a playing piece on a board. In conclusion, according to the intuitive analysis of the runes in The Leaves of Yggdrasil by Freya Aswynn, this rune can be likened to the womb of the Great Goddess, the Universal Mother. Here "Peorth" represents what existence brings with it, as a fertile womb brings a child into the world. She reveals what was previously hidden. In all other interpretations of this rune, "Peorth" represents the potency of predestination or destiny acting in the material world, bringing into existence previously hidden forms.

The rune sounds like "ks" or "z". In its shape, it resembles the antlers of an elk, a protective "protective sign" of an arm raised at an angle, and an aquatic plant known as "elongated sedge". This plant is hardy and tenacious. According to an Old English runic poem: “Sedge grows mainly in swamps. Growing freely in the water, it severely wounds, stained with the blood of the one who tries to grab it. " Depicted in the form of elk or sedge antlers, this rune signifies protection. It is considered the most powerful rune of protection against those influences or forces that we find when we are in conflict with ourselves. Esoterically, "Elhaz" denotes a person's striving for divine properties.

Sigel, Sig, Sowilo

The rune stands for the sound "s". As the "sun" rune, it symbolizes the powers of the sacred solar disk, personifying the life-giving properties of daylight. "Sigel" stands for the all-conquering brilliance of sunlight. Symbolically, it denotes a clear vision and readiness to achieve a goal, manifested either on the physical or on the spiritual plane. An Old English runic poem explains it this way: "When sailors sail in fish fonts, for them the Sun always means hope, until the horse of the seas brings them to the harbor." In symbolic terms, the rune "Sigel" personifies a conscious magical will that works in a beneficial way around the world. It denotes a certain spiritual quality that has the power to selflessly resist the powerful effects of death and destruction. This rune solemnly glorifies the victory of light over darkness, attracting the power of the sun for protection and healing. Thus, this is the rune of victory.

The rune is named for the celestial god of Central and Northern Europe, also known as Tiu or Ziu, who is considered a double of the Roman Mars. Its phonetic meaning is "t". "Tyr" is the first rune in the atta of the same name and is under the authority of the Supreme Judge. An Old English rune poem describes this rune as follows: "Tyr" is a special sign that noble people believe. He is always in his place and is never lost in the darkness of the night. " Tyr embodies the ability to provide strong, reliable, confident leadership. Like the legend of Thur, who sacrificed his right hand so that the sir could bind the wolf Fenrir, this rune makes it clear that in order to rule in accordance with the law, sacrifices must be made. It denotes the inextricable link between the successful completion of something and the need for sacrificial dedication for the sake of success. With its “arrow-like” shape, it indicates that in order to achieve the greatest result, we must direct our energy in the right direction.

Veogs, Birkana, Wag

The 18th rune reads "b". This letter stands for birch - a tree that is a symbol of purification and rebirth. An Old English runic poem tells us this: "The birch does not bear fruit, but it grows without sowing, its shining branches, hung with leaves, rose like a patterned helmet, combing the heavens." Here she acts as a symbol of the reproduction and possession of the great Mother Earth, the goddess Nerthus. This aspect is enhanced by the shape of the rune, reminiscent of the chest of a goddess. "Veogs" is directly related to the first letter of ogam "Beth" - a tree that symbolizes the spring renewal of the sun's energy. In both the runes and the Ogamic and Gaelic traditions, birch is a tree of purification; it is from its rods that sorceresses knit their brooms. Birch is also the tree traditionally used for the May pole. The number of the Veogs rune, as the 18th in a row, is twice the sacred number of the ninth Hagal rune. This marks a new beginning.

This rune literally means a horse. "The horse, the joy of the peers, stands proudly, while the rich riders discuss all its articles, and for the restless - it is always a joy" - says the Old English runic poem. In its form and poetic content, "Ehwaz" is a combination rune. She is commonly associated with twins, brotherhood or sisterhood, and an intuitive bond between a horse and her rider. Thus, the deepest quality of "Ehwaz" is trust and loyalty. "Ehwaz" represents the movement that we need in order to complete any task, and more specifically, the "life task" that our destiny puts before us.

A rune with a phonetic meaning "m". "Man" is viewed as a human being in general, not just masculine. She represents the basic essence of our human nature, the property that is present in every human being, be it a man or a woman. "Man" denotes a particle of basic experience that goes to every person who is aware of their existence. The Old English runic poem declares this essence: "Happy is the man beloved by his loved ones, but everyone must part with others, for the gods will bury his flesh to the earth." In its form, the rune reflects the archetype of a human being, according to the ancient concept of a person as a microcosm. The human being on his short journey is seen as a reflection of society, the world and the cosmos. The rune expresses the entire spectrum of human experience, without which it is impossible to realize the general potential of our life. The phonetic meaning of the rune is "e".

A rune with a phonetic meaning "l". It stands for water in all its many aspects and the plant known as the leek. Primarily a rune of fluidity, Lagu embodies the ever-changing nature of existence. Lagu symbolizes a stunning increase in the energy of growth. The leek is known for its tremendous energy, thanks to which it breaks through the earth, and the rune symbolizes this power, against which nothing can resist. This unbreakable power of growth is a fundamental property of matter. An Old English runic poem tells us that: "The land inhabitants are alarmed by the water when they go to sea in a swinging ship and the horse of the seas does not obey the bridle." This represents the dangerous side of the stream, the power of the sea. Like water, Lagu is a mediator through which promotion takes place, but not without risk. However, like everything else in the world, Lagu has two aspects. Although human life cannot exist without water, a person can only live in water for a very, very short time. This equilibrium, the law of the unity of opposites, manifests itself in the same way as the cyclical process of growth. It is evidenced by the growth rings of sea shells and trees, and in the "Lagu" sphere it manifests itself as ebb and flow.

Fertility

The 22nd rune symbolizes the god Inga. It reads "n". In the northern tradition, the god Ing is the consort of the goddess of fertility and cultivation, Nerthus. Ing represents the god of male fertility who guards the hearth, inglenook, so this rune has long been used to protect the household. More generally, "Ing" is a symbol of light. It is a beacon fire that sends a signal far around. Yngwie is the nickname of the Scandinavian god of fertility Freyr, who is clearly identical to the god Ing. In pagan times, on certain holy days, the image of Yngwie was carried on a consecrated cart around the fence of his sacred monastery. This is recorded in an Old English runic poem: “At first, the inhabitants of eastern Denmark saw Inga retiring across the sea in his chariot. That is how the Herdings called this hero. " On a general level, the Ing rune represents potential energy. The rune shape indicates the ability to expand without limit. As an aspect of the phallic god Freyr, it denotes male orgasmic power and its consequences. It is energy that must be created gradually over a period of accumulation before it can be released in a single explosion of immense force.

Odal, Odil Etbil, Ethel

Estate

In the literal sense, "Odal" means the land of the ancestors, more specifically - the property of the family - the estate. In the Frisian language, this rune is called "Eueuen-eerde": "own land", "own land." An Old English rune poem calls it "home" and tells us: "All human beings love a home asylum if they can thrive there in the world and enjoy frequent harvests." "Odal" embodies the properties of belonging, unity, ancestral heritage and not amenable to definition, but nevertheless real-life family qualities that are passed on from generation to generation. On a less personal level, this rune denotes the innate properties of something, its material and spiritual heritage. It is a symbol of resistance against the interference of arbitrary government by state authorities; it denotes the integrity, rational and economical use of resources and the freedom of the individual and clan within the limits of natural law. The phonetic meaning of the "o" rune.

Phonetic equivalent of "d". Dag literally means day. "The day is a messenger of God, light brings comfort and happiness to both the rich and the poor." "Dag" is a rune of the brightest light of day, especially at its zenith. Thus, it is a half-day and mid-summer rune. "Dag" is an entirely beneficial rune of light, health and well-being. In her spiritual realm, she represents cosmic consciousness, divine light as a source of strength and joy. As the rune of midday and mid-summer, the high points of the day and year, Dag marks the end of one cycle and the beginning of the next. In its shape, the Dag rune symbolizes the balance between opposites, especially such as light and darkness. "Dag" has a Gaelic counterpart in the form of "Doir" - an oak tree and the ogamic letter "Duir". In the Ogamic tree calendar, as in the runic cycles of the year, it marks the middle of summer. This is the "door", which is located at the meeting point of half a year of increasing light with half a year of decreasing. This aspect of the "door" makes "Dag" the runic counterpart of the Hebrew letter "daleth".

The first rune of the fourth atta "As". Its phonetic equivalent is the short "a". Sometimes this att is called “atta of the gods”, dedicated to a group of Scandinavian gods called asses. Originating in England, this group of runes is associated with a number of trees, which can be seen as a sign of Celtic influence. The rune "As" literally means an oak tree, which throughout Europe is dedicated to God the Thunderer, under whatever name he appears: Zeus, Dispater, Jupiter, Thor, Taranis, Dagda, Perun or Perkunas. Esoterically, this rune personifies an acorn, a symbol of great potency: "mighty oaks grow from small acorns." This oak fruit is a natural reproduction of the cosmic egg that contains the potential energy of transition into existence and growth. As a result, the "As" rune denotes the potential for powerful growth and constant reliable support.

Phonetically, "Os" conveys the sound "o". The "As" and "Os" values are close to each other. "Os" means "speech" or "mouth" and is a specific rune of inspiration associated with Odin as the god of eloquence. The sound "Os" is considered to be the original vibration of existence, the Logos of the Greek tradition. As a result, the rune "Os" personifies the creative power of the word and, thus, wisdom itself. On another level, it symbolizes the idea of information. It is thanks to information that all life structures and processes can take place. In a humanistic sense, it denotes culture, that code of identity-establishing information that finds expression in poetry, song, saga or literature.

It conveys the sound "y" and means a bow from which arrows are fired. In Northern Europe, the best bows were made from the fatal yew tree. In addition to hunting and war, the bow can also be used for witchcraft. It is known that, in the folk tradition, dowsers, along with the use of Y-shaped hazel twigs or instead of them, in their search for underground water resorted to an elastic yew bow as a "magic wand". With its bow-shaped “Yr”, it represents creative powers. It is thanks to the knowledge and skill of handling the materials of the physical world that the creations of human hands come into existence. Thus, the rune "Yr" means safety, individual protection at the expense of others, the correct determination of your position - in the right place at the right time - and hitting the target.

Sea creature

The rune has the phonetic meaning "io". "Ior" means "sea animal". While some commentators associate it with the beaver, an animal now extinct in Britain, it is more acceptable to speculate about a mythical animal known as the Sea Serpent, the Midgard Worm - the World Serpent named Ermungand. By analogy with the dual nature of amphibian animals - terrestrial and aquatic - "Ior" symbolizes the duality that manifests itself in many things. In the myth of Ermungand, the world serpent is depicted, naturally, as the most dangerous animal. Although his movements periodically threaten to rob the world of stability, he is nevertheless an essential part of it. If it were eliminated, it would lead to endless changes. The consequences of this would be more disastrous for man's earthly life than his constant presence. The worm of Midgard and its rune "Ior" thus symbolize the difficulties and hardships that we must cope with if we intend to lead a tolerable life. Natural disasters occurring from time to time, symbolized by the movements of a serpent, are an integral part of the natural order of human life. In Scandinavian mythology, this is explained by the myth of the Torah. Fishing for the bull's head represented by "Ur", the rune of power, Thor caught the Midgard Worm. But the essence of this story is not to demonstrate the dexterity of the Thunderer. This act is shown as a reckless attempt to transcend the law of balance in nature - as something that even God cannot do without causing dire consequences. Fortunately, before Thor could pull the snake from the bottom of the ocean, the giant Humir, Thor's companion, broke the line, and Ermungand again plunged into the bottomless depths of the ocean. While dangerous, the forces personified by "Ior" are recognized as essential components of life. The reaction of modern society to these dangerous forces is expressed in an attempt to completely eliminate them. But in the Scandinavian tradition, the law of the unity of opposites is unconditionally recognized. Like the myth of the Torah, the idea behind Ior shows us that if we try to remove one of the polarities of something, it is bound to fail. The experience of modern medicine clearly shows this pattern, since when one disease is eradicated, another appears in order to fill the space vacated by the previous disease. However, the irony of this state of affairs is that new diseases are more infectious than old ones, since they are completely unusual for us and there is little resistance to them. Hence the motto "Ior": "leave alone."

The phonetic meaning is "eа". This rune means "dust" from which our bodies are created and into which we will return with death. She serves as a symbol of the grave and personifies the end of all life. But you should not look at it as a bad rune, because if there were no end, there would never have been a beginning. The very existence of life predetermines death. "Ear" indicates this inevitable end, the inevitability of the return of a separate living human being to the undifferentiated material from which our bodies are made.

"Cweorth" depicts the flames of ritual fire billowing and wavering. It can be a festive bonfire, a "pure fire" or a fire of a funeral pyre. But whatever fire means here, the Cweorth rune embodies the idea of ritual purification through fire. All fires are microcosmic reflections of the sacred hearth. Its phonetic meaning is "q".

This is another rune whose meaning is not as clear as that of others. It is usually said to represent a ritual vessel or sacrificial bowl. Its name, on the other hand, means "chalk" - a soft rock used in construction and for writing on a slate board. If you look at it like a bowl, it is seen upside down and emptied. Once complete, it is now empty. Its contents have been used or spilled. Perhaps the drink was drunk or splashed on the ground as a sacred libation to the gods. Both as a sacrificial bowl and as a recording medium, "Calc" means the remembrance of absent or deceased friends. In shape, it resembles an inverted rune "Elhaz" - the 15th rune, a symbol of protection. Therefore, "Calc" can be interpreted as the personification of the death of an individual. Esoterically, the secret "Calc" means that, being complete, yet empty. Like "Ior", this aspect of it carries the unity of opposites. On a spiritual level, "Calc" denotes a characteristic feature of all that is sacred: it may seem easily accessible, but it cannot be touched - it is unattainable. In the medieval world, "Calc" was considered the rune of the Holy Grail. Its phonetic meaning is "k".

It can be interpreted as a description of the stone in any of its aspects. It can mean "bones of the earth", rock. Basically, a rune is used to designate a single boulder, cobblestone or stone. But it can also apply to special types of stone, such as megalith or facing stone for buildings. It can also be a "pebble" or a piece used in board games because the outline of the rune is similar to the traditional forms of playing pieces used in board games such as tavlei.

Whatever the shape of the stone "Stan" stands for, it marks the connection between the power of the earth, human beings, and the powers of heaven. Just as a stone can block the way or one token can block the movement of another, the rune "Stan" can either provide protection or act as an obstacle to our progress. "Stan" has the phonetic meaning "st".

The final, 33rd rune of the Northumbrian runic series. It has the phonetic meaning "g". This sign means "spear". In mythology, he refers to Gungnir, the spear of Odin. Traditionally, ash shafts were used for spears. As it is said in "Beowulf": "In the same place they made spears of ash together with swords - an iron burden." Unlike the previous, 32nd rune, "Gar" cannot be attributed to any of the four generally accepted atts. Like the spear of Odin, which is a microcosm of the universal tree, the Yggdrasil ash, "Gar" serves as the central point that all other runes surround. In addition, in the Northumbrian system "Gar" is considered the rune of completeness.

Anglo-Saxon Runes | site runologist, divination on runes, runic amulets.

Anglo-Saxon runes - Anglo-Saxon rune row or Old English futork. The Anglo-Saxons took the original futhark and increased it first to 28 runes, and then to 31 runes. And a little later, in Northumbria (the ancient English kingdom), in the 9th-10th centuries A.D. increased up to 33 runes. Why they did so, we can only guess, but the main versions: Anglo-Saxon runes have more signs due to phonetic requirements, but maybe magical.

All 33 Anglo-Saxon runes are recorded only in handwritten form on parchment. Mainly 28 runes are found on stones, weapons, jewelry and other objects.

Anglo-Saxon runes are described in the Anglo-Saxon rune poem, which contains a list of 29 runes, their names and an explanation of the name of each rune. It is interesting that the Anglo-Saxon runic poem differs greatly in the meanings of the runes from other runes (Icelandic and Norse). This is explained by the fact that the customer and / or the performer of the work was a pious Christian, and all pagan elements, for example, turs, were cleaned out or replaced with other meanings (in the case of turs, it was replaced with thorn / turn).

There are 2 full-fledged translations of the Anglo-Saxon runic poem into Russian: the translation of Kirill Gorbatenko and the translation of Anastasia Koldai. Partial translation of the added runes, 25-29, by Anna Blaise. Of course, there is no perfect translation, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. I decided and made my own translation of the Anglo-Saxon runic poem, I hope it will be useful to a reader who studies Anglo-Saxon runes.

SOULU or Welfare

Orsana was the first to wake up. It was not the most comfortable placein which she had to sleep. The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon. She wondered if it was worth waking Wolfe.

She looked at her friend with tenderness. Sleep softened the featureshis face. He seemed to the girl as close as ever. She had already decided that she would allow Wolfe to sleep a little, but suddenly remembered how he wanted to get home faster. She gently touched his shoulder.

Wolfe, wake up, it's dawn. The young man opened his eyes, stretched:

How sweet was my dream, Orsana!

I didn't know whether to wake you up, but you yourself said yesterday that you need to get back to ours as soon as possible.

It's very good that you woke me up. There is already enough lightlo to move on. A do you want to know what i dreamed about?

Want.

I dreamed that our wedding night had come, I layon the matrimonial bed, and the oldest women of our kindthey give you to me, beautifully dressed, with a wreath in your hair and….

- So there is nothing: it was at that moment that you woke me up.

Sitting between the branches of an oak tree, they quickly ate a modest breakfast and were about to go downstairs, when Orsana suddenly remembered:

And the rune ?! Do we ask the runes for advice?

“You’re starting to depend on them,” Wolfe laughed and held out
her a bag.

The girl plunged her hand into it and took out the Soulu rune.

And, probably, as always, you want to know something about her?

Of course.

This is the rune of the elements of Fire. It is dedicated to the noble god Balother. Of all the gods, he is the most supportive of people. Soulu helps to maintain good health, stimulates the internal energy in a person and facilitates its recovery. In our case, the rune promises that we will have enough strength to return home quickly. So I suggest that we head south without further delay. I would like to get to Ostroma today.

But that's a big part of the journey! Orsana exclaimed. - Up tohorn here we drove it on a cart.

A who said we couldn't get lucky again?

They quickly reached the road that led in the direction of Ostrowe. Time moved very quickly. They had been walking along the road for severalto the clock, but neither people nor carts could be seen.

Just like the day before, they didn't stopfor lunch, and had a snack on the go. Wolfe began to worry about Orsana's condition. Even for him, such a pace was exhausting, but how hard it must be for this weak girl! He was amazed that she did not complain, but he saw that her energy was gradually decreasing.

Wolfe was about to stop for rest when he suddenly sawa carriage leaving a forest clearing. He carefully looked at the driver, fearing that it might be some man from the West, but quickly calmed down when he saw that a woman was driving the oxen.

- And all the same, Fate is favorable to us, Orsana! Look, a cart is coming out of the forest, maybe it will give us a lift.

Wulf grabbed the girl by the hand, and they ran to thethe way for the carriage ...

Mother! - shouted Wolfe. - Wait!

The woman looked around and held back the oxen.

Where are you heading, mother? - asked the young man.

- To the fair in Ostroma. I want to sell cheese, wool, eggs and other goods.

- Can you give us a lift? We have been on the road for a long time, and my companion is very worn out.

It's cramped in my carriage, but if you fit, then sit down.

We are very grateful to you, mother, ”said Orsana.

Without wasting a minute, Wulf deftly jumped on the cart and helped the girl climb. The oxen, chased by the woman, started to move. The calm rocking of the cart, the warm rays of the sun, and fatigue took their toll. Orsana fell asleep almost immediately. Wolfe tried to fight sleep, but soon he fell asleep too.

SIGEL (like the TIR rune) is one of the greatest victory runes, its appearance in the rune layout truly guarantees success. This is a rune of great power, showing that you now have great energy that can make changes in your life. Any opposition encountered can be quickly overcome, giving you time to take a break and take your time.

Sometimes the appearance of SIGEL in the rune layout indicates that anxiety and tension begin to take heavy damage to you. Surrounded by business runes (such as RAIDHO or WUNJO) or material runes (such as OTHEL or FEHU), it can indicate that you are becoming a workaholic and desperately need a little rest and relaxation.

If the runes associated with it are negative, SIGEL can often indicate that you are very worried about your problems, but never, apparently, can not muster the strength to do something.

Often this rune refers to a very egocentric person who always wants to be fully responsible for his life. If he does not succeed, then anxiety or helplessness is born in him. In this case, you need to carefully consider the runes WYRD, HAGALL, ISA, NIED and THURISAZ, especially NIED.

SIGEL is a rune of good health and great energy, but sometimes its appearance in the rune layout indicates that the person asking the question is concerned about his health. In this case, you should look for positive runes that indicate positive vitality (for example, KENAZ and TIR) or indicate a good ability to recuperate (GIFU, DAEG and ING).

This rune does not have an inverted position and is almost always positive.

In magic

SIGEL is the rune of will. It is the spiritual energy that guides all true seekers. The rune of success.

Usage:

  • Victory, success.
  • Used in treatment.
  • Used when strength and self-confidence are needed.
